Question 55

Two independent test groups, A and B, tested a system in parallel for a given period of time, and each group detected NA and NB of errors, respectively. Of these, NAB is the number of common errors. Assume that the error detection capability and efficiency of group A are equal to those of group B. Which formula is used to predict the total number of errors in this system?

In this problem, assume NA > 0, NB > 0 and NAB > 0

a) N = NA + NB - NAB
b) N = NAB × NA × NB
c) N = ( NA + NB )/ NAB
d) N = ( NA × NB )/ NAB
